WARCOE is a pretty young band from Pesaro, Italy that play Doom Metal or as they call it “Doom Core”. The Italian three-piece plays a rather strange mix of sometimes psychedelic Doom Metal with chaotic moments that sound a bit like old FEAR FACTORY (minus the shitty drum sound those guys had). The band was formed in 2021 and before this EP there were two singles that are now included in this four track EP. The vocals remind me of a mix between Ozzy Osbourne and PLACEBO’s Brian Molko which strangely fitting to be honest. When it comes to riffs and overall composition these guys know their stuff, the BLACK SABBATH influences are coming in thick and Stefano’s voice only cements this impression. To be clear WARCOE is not a BLACK SABBATH rip-off, these guys have their very own sound and vibe but the influence of Iommi and other contemporaries is clearly heard and felt. If you are a sucker for anything remotely dark and gloomy you will have to give this a few spins.
Conclusion: If you like BLACK SABBATH and PENTAGRAMM you will appreciate this.
