Review Flash

It’s been an insane two years since ‘The Lockdown Tapes’ were released (I did review them quite late so it was a shorter period of time for me to wait on the next release). Be it what it is, POWER GAME is back with ‘Slaying Gods’, their third full-length output. For those that don’t belong to my regular readers: POWER GAME play old-school Heavy Metal without frills, just plain old Heavy fucking Metal that goes for the throat. It is also very good to see that the band’s mascot El Demonio Negro is in top form again (the lockdown really got to him last time we saw him). So, on the new and awesome cover our favourite Heavy Metal luchadores are back in the ring literally knocking out a whole pantheon of gods. But let us head back to the main theme here: Heavy Metal! POWERGAME’s sound is rich and riff-laden, melody driven yet untamed. Vocalist Mätty, who also plays guitar, is the rawest element of the band as his vocals mostly come across a bit unpolished yet authentic as fuck and full of tangible passion for the music itself. POWERGAME has been around since 2012 and I honestly think it is time for more recognition in the international scene, get these dudes to RockHard Festival so I can see them live and buy their merch goddammit!

Conclusion: If you dig your Metal old-school, melodic and, at times, fucking raw: Get yourself a copy of ‘Slaying Gods’!
