28th August 2010
Summer’s End Open Air: Subway to Sally, Die Apokalyptischen Reiter, Epica, Tanzwut, Fiddler's Green, Schelmish, Mono Inc, Sons of Seasons
And so I went for a one day festival with a killer line-up, through the beautiful Mosel valley to Andernach in Germany, certain of a great day. The festival site is located just a short drive from Andernach, with hard standing, which, given the unfortunate weather, was a Godsend. It’s worth organizers of festivals bearing this kind of thing in mind as anyone who was at Glastonbury during the mud year will vouch for. So, with nice dry feet I watched a plethora of talent from across Germany and the Netherlands.

2nd September 2010
Runrig, Seth Lakeman
For over 30 years we can enjoy the wonderful Gaelic-Scottish folk music mixed with modern rock music from RUNRIG. They wake up emotions and let you dream, but also just dance and celebrate. After the cancellation of the German spring tour the band was now playing the rescheduled shows in August and September.

Nocturnal Culture Night 5 Day 1: Downstairs Left, In The Nursery, Vomito Negro, Die Art, Iris, The House Of Usher, Patenbrigade:Wolff, Tenek, The Pussybats
When in September the summer slowly is fading away and the first trees have the colour of their leaves change, the clock also strikes the end of the festival season, but it also is the time when the Nocturnal Culture Night festival is taking place. In 2010, it was already taking place for the fifth time, but for me as writer it was the first time being at the festival and I was curious how it all would be. But with such acts as TENEK, IRIS or IN THE NURSERY playing the first day, it couldn’t be so bad, could it?

Area4 Festival 2010 Day 3: Billy Talent, Gogol Bordello, The Gaslight Anthem, Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, Caliban, Comeback Kid, Parkway Drive, State Radio, Twin Atlantic
On the last festival day, the weather was not so very friendly to us. First only grey and windy, it started raining heavily just during those two bands, I really was looking forward to: BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB and THE GASLIGHT ANTHEM. Festival and rain always means... mud... and lots of kiddies playing with and in it. It was a funny thing seeing all those mud flying high during the GOGOL BORDELLO show. Headliner of the evening finally was BILLY TALENT, a really great live act I might add.

Summer Breeze Open Air - Day 3: Deadstar Assembly, Letzte Instanz, Destinity, Pantheon I, Anathema, Cannibal Corpse, Hypocrisy, Gorgoroth, Watain, Dying Fetus, Hail of Bullets
After a relatively good night (for festival circumstances) I woke up at eight o’clock due to some heat in my tent. A nice breakfast (coffee!) followed and I also met the first known people. The sun shone from the very beginning and the task for the day was to see a lot of bands but also to spare some energy. At twelve o’clock, I went to see the first band, DEADSTAR ASSEMBLY.
