Faun & Support: Flight Behaviour & Serpentyne
Tonight’s entertainment was close to home and it involved a quick walk up the road to the Union Chapel to experience it. FAUN were headlining this iconic London venue ably supported by US band FLIGHT BEHAVIOUR and Britain’s own SERPENTYNE. The walk up was uneventful apart from some idiot waffling on about a yellow car in a baby voice in my direction that had me responding with a rendition of “Snooker Loopy” by the Match Room Boys and twirling my fingers by my temple. When I got to the venue there was a long queue which snaked forward fairly swiftly but I did not get into the venue until 7:10pm, a good ten minutes into SERPENTYNE’s set. Also, when I requested a photo pass, I was led to believe that it would not be possible on this occasion but I could have a guest pass. “That’s fine!”’ I thought, be grateful for that and enjoy the show. So I got to the front of the queue and it turned out that a photo pass was waiting for me. “Ahhhhhhhhhhhhh!” I screamed on the inside! Anyway, into the Chapel I went and found a nice balcony pew and it is there I set myself for the night’s entertainment…

On April 13, 2022, in the well-known and beloved Markthalle club in Hamburg, a concert of two Top metal bands DARK TRANQUILLITY (Sweden) and ENSIFERUM (Finland) was held. Their joint tour started on April 1 in the Swedish capital Stockholm and will continue in 23 European countries and end in Gothenburg on May 27 after 53 concerts. Forced To Mode - “2 x 20 Singles”
40 DEPECHE MODE songs in two shows – that’s what FORCED TO MODE had to offer on Easter weekend at Kulttempel Oberhausen. I showed up for the second one which was part of their 20+20 program. With that they planned to celebrate the 40th band birthday of their heroes in 2020. But due to Covid restrictions the concerts had to be postponed multiple times. Now they could finally play the shows. And for the first time in eleven years of FORCED TO MODE the trio of Christian Schottstädt, Thomas Schernikau and Matthias Kahra put some songs of the “past Alan Wilder-era” in their sets.

White Lies & special guest: Charming Liars
In February 2022, WHITE LIES release their new album ‘As I Try Not To Fall Apart’ and now, in April and May, the post-run rockers are coming to Germany for eight concerts and will also be performing their new music live as part of this. They are supported by CHARMING LIARS from London. The concert was held as a so-called “3G” event, means you had to be tested, vaccinated or recovered from Covid.

A Place To Bury Strangers & Support: Lunacy
In March and April 2022, the trio is finally on tour again and is playing six concerts in Germany, one of them at the Gleis 22 in Münster, supported by LUNACY. This was my first show this year and also the first one without any Covid-19 restrictions. I must admit that it felt a bit strange… many people close to me and knowing there were no checks for vaccination or tests at the entrance. I think others felt the same since several people in the audience were still wearing masks. But anyone in the club seemed to be very happy to finally attend concerts again.
