The Dark Guitar scene in 2023 manifested itself primarily in the Gothic genres of Deathrock and Post-Punk. New names have recently appeared less frequently than 3-4 years ago, but they still appear with both new ideas and the execution of classic sound. In 2023, in some marvelous way mostly projects from France showed themselves on the Gothic Electronic’s scene top. This would be easy to assume, given the geographical roots of the currently popular Coldwave genre, but the French musicians showed themselves not only in this style. In general, the Gothic scene unlike most other areas of the dark scene continues to develop due to the rapid revival of Coldwave, which is good news. And even if someone may not really like Coldwave in its pure form, its rise became an impact for classic Synth-Goth and Gothic Electro to return to the Olympus of the dark scene, as it was in the 2000s.- Details

Summarizing the year is always an interesting activity. While listening to the best releases, a complete picture of how the year has passed is created and writing top notes in individual areas allows you to completely immerse yourself in the atmosphere, because each scene within the overall dark scene has its own distinctive features and uniqueness. 2023 did not become a revelation or some kind of breakthrough. In 2023, there were not a large number of albums that aroused delight and when listening to the sound in my head “yes, this is an album for centuries in the player”, however, the year cannot be called a failure. After the tour had to be postponed twice due to the pandemic, there is now good news: the NIGHT OF THE PROMS is staking place in 2022 as planned and presents a program with this year’s artists with a pronounced hit density. In addition to KOOL & THE GANG, AMY MACDONALD, NIK KERSHAW, CAROL DECKER from T’PAU, MATT SIMONS and YOLANDA BROWN are there as a classical soloist. The stars are accompanied on their greatest hits by the ANTWERP PHILHARMONIC ORCHESTRA and the CHOR FINE FLEUR under the baton of conductor ALEXANDRA ARRIECHE.
