WETO is a resurrected project of Thomas Lindner (vocals SCHANDMAUL), Martin Duckstein (guitar SCHANDMAUL), Matthias Richter (bass SCHANDMAUL), Stefan Brunner (drummer SCHANDMAUL), and Heiner Jaspers (keyboard REGICIDE). WETO was founded in 1993 as a punk rock band. The main thought of the band is still alive, but the changes of the members during the years also changed the way WETO are presenting themselves on stage. This new aspects of WETO offered their members the change to play with the dark side of music, in their lyrics and live on stage.
Music
The sound of WETO showed that they played with the dark side and tried to find a way of melancholic, dark and sonorous songs. That shows how much they are influenced by the news and all the bad things happening all over the world. The lyrics are definitely the opposite of SCHANDMAUL, in this case WETO has kept their promise to mainly play darker sounds; and the themes of the songs are extremely deep grounded.
Performance
Thomas Lindner (vocals) tried to create the fitting tune and the rest of the band tried it too, but they were not really able to do it and so the audience wasn’t very outgoing. WETO had some parallels to SCHANDMAUL which made the connection and understanding much easier for SCHANDMAUL fans who were part of the audience that night. If you are a fan of SCHANDMAUL and want to see how they might sound playing darker and heavier music, WETO is the right choice for you.
