Maximo Park and Gods of Blitz
Over the last couple of years a new wave of bands entered the scene who are swayed by an era of (British) Pop music which was rather overlooked or even dismissed before: The Post Punk and New Wave era of the early 1980s. Bands like 2004’s breakthrough of the year, Franz Ferdinand, or Bloc Party, Interpol, The Killers and many others pay their tribute to almost forgotten heroes like The Sound, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Chameleons, House Of Love, The Go-Betweens or not-so-forgotten legends like The Smiths, The Pixies, The Clash, and (especially in Interpol`s case) Joy Division or even Duran Duran. Maximo Park are the new hottest thing of this “New New Wave” and an excellent album and the announcement of a gig in my hometown at the high-reputated “Gleis22” made me feel like a kid before christmas.

Xystus, Morning and Nemesea
Finally the day had come! The first Official Stargazers Metal Meeting was held on May 21st, 2005 in the Goudvishal in Arnhem, the Netherlands. Meant for the members of the Dutch official Nightwish Fanclub Stargazers and for those who were interested. After a warm welcome of the treasurer of the fanclub, Willem Nijenhuis, I received my pass and I was set for a great day. The venue in particular was kind of small, yet big enough for the amount of visitors. The ambiance was immediately set.
At 18:00 hrs the time has come to kick off and the band Morning is up first!

Paradise Lost, Orphaned Land and Society1
“Paradise Lost” are one of the most influential Metal bands from the United Kingdom, and without any doubt one of the biggest risk takers in the Metal genre. With their early works the band from Halifax/North England founded a whole new genre, Gothic Metal, and as this genre spawned countless followers and epigones “Paradise Lost” turned their backs on it to explore new musical ground. Their 1999 album “Host” even provoked comparisons to “Depeche Mode”, and this album in particular was hard to swallow for all die-hard fans of the early “Paradise Lost”. But the band always managed to attract new crowds whenever they lost parts of their old audiences whenever they changed yet again their sound, and some fans just have stayed and went all the way with the band…
“Paradise Lost” recent self-titled album hit the stores earlier this year and the fans were eagerly waiting for the tour accompanying the album. Together with guests Society1 and Orphaned Land they hit the road in April 2005. We took our chance to make the Paradise Lost 2005 experience in Cologne´s “Live Music Hall”.

Iris and Sono
The concert was taking place at the famous "Party for the masses" - Germany´s biggest Depeche Mode party taking place for 14 years now in Hamburg. Fans all over Germany usually travel to Hamburg to be part of that event. This time there were a little less people than during parties before. Probably because of the fact that there will be another "Party for the Masses" on 25th June at the "Cap San Diego" - a big ship in the Hamburg harbour. We arrived at short past 8 in Hamburg, had first some food and then walked to the venue which filled up very slowly this time. At about 11.30 the party started as usually with "Pimpf" and "Behind the wheel". After dancing for quite a while it was finally time at around 12 for the first band of the evening.

Lacrimas Profundere
On the same day at which In Extremo played outdoors, Lacrimas Profundere played on their "Ave End" - tour live in the Cotton Club in Kaiserslautern. But they had one big advantage….they played inside in the comfy Cotton Club at the Kammgarn Area, while it rained outside. Before the show began, Thomas Adorff (http://www.adorff.de) presented some of his gothic & concert photos in a slide show. An appropiate start to this evening. Only about 100 people turned up to see the show, thus, it wasn´t really packed.
