Hurts - “15 Years of Happiness”

The British synth duo HURTS unexpectedly appeared on the international stage in 2010 and took the charts by storm. Their debut album ‘Happiness’ and the successful singles ‘Wonderful Life’ and ‘Stay’ stayed in the European charts for months and were awarded gold and platinum several times. With their elegant mix of New Wave, Synth Pop and a touch of melancholic Zeitgeist Pop, HURTS became pioneers of a new artistic movement that brought the spirit of the 80s into the modern age.

In 2009, after the formation of HURTS, they found the pulse of the times with their mix of melancholic melodies, stylish soundscapes, extravagant videos and hopeful lyrics. Their single ‘Wonderful Life’ landed in the charts across Europe and received multiple platinum awards in countries such as Germany and Switzerland. The accompanying album ‘Happiness’, released in 2010, became the best-selling debut of the year in England and reached the top 10 in eleven other countries, with over two million copies sold worldwide. Their visual aesthetic created an image of sophisticated coolness that became the trademark of a new generation of Synth musicians. In 2011, HURTS reaped the fruits of their success, including awards such as a Bambi, an Echo, a Virgin and an MTV Music Award.

Their subsequent albums ‘Exile’ (2013), ‘Surrender’ (2015), ‘Desire’ (2017) and ‘Faith’ (2020) also remained stylistically characterized by elegance and great pop anthems, which once again brought the duo international chart positions and sold-out tours. In 2025, on the 15th anniversary of their breakthrough, HURTS will look back on a number of exclusive shows in Europe where they will perform their style-defining debut album ‘Happiness’ in its entirety live - including on May 24, 2025 in Berlin.
