Beatsteaks - “Please Tour 2025”
The story: With their band BEATSTEAKS, five friends from Berlin have evolved from a small punk attraction into one of Germany’s biggest Rock bands over the years. After countless tours at home and abroad, appearances at Europe’s biggest festivals, and multiple gold albums, BEATSTEAKS are now one of the most beloved and successful rock bands in the country.
It has been almost exactly 22 years since Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß first set foot in that legendary basement at Alte Schönhauser Straße 48/49 in Berlin. There, he met guitarist friends Peter Baumann and Bernd Kurtzke, along with bassist Ali Roßwaag and drummer Stephan Hirche - the birth of BEATSTEAKS. After winning a competition that earned them the opening slot for the SEX PISTOLS, the band embarked on the classic Rock‘n’Roll journey: countless concerts and the gruelling grind through small-town venues. Following several line-up changes, the band solidified around the turn of the millennium with the current line-up: Baumann, Teutoburg-Weiß, Kurtzke, drummer Thomas Götz, and bassist Torsten Scholz.
Their big breakthrough came in 2004 with ‘Smacksmash’, their fourth album, which reached #11 on the German charts, went platinum, and won the MTV Music Award for “Best German Act.” Since then, they have continued their success with three more studio albums and countless celebrated concerts. Their 2007 gold-certified album ‘Limbo Messiah’ reached #3 in the charts, and in 2011, ‘Boombox’ - also certified gold - secured their first-ever #1 spot in the Media Control charts. The band’s unique live energy was captured in their 2008 DVD ‘Kanonen auf Spatzen.’
However, the BEATSTEAKS wouldn’t be the BEATSTEAKS if they simply rested on their laurels. They constantly challenge themselves, demonstrating their resilience and ability to overcome obstacles - most notably with their latest studio album. After months of uncertainty and hope following drummer Thomas Götz’s serious accident during a DVD production, they regrouped and channelled all their energy into what became their finest album to date, aptly titled ‘Beatsteaks’.
The album showcased the band at the peak of their creative powers - a collective masterpiece that condensed their vast stylistic range into a cohesive whole. Whether it’s Punk, Rock, Dub, Pop, Post-Punk, or even Polka - BEATSTEAKS are instantly recognizable from the first few notes. Their signature sound comes from the way Bernd Kurtzke and Peter Baumann intertwine their riffs, Thomas Götz’s distinctive drumming, and Torsten Scholz’s unmistakable, always grooving bass. And, of course, there’s the unmistakable voice of Arnim Teutoburg-Weiß, who has matured into one of Germany’s best Rock vocalists.
The reward? ‘Beatsteaks’ debuted at #1 in the German charts once again. But that’s not all - their video for ‘Everything Went Black’, a Yakuza crime story styled as a graphic novel, was showcased at Tokyo’s world-famous Shibuya Scramble Crossing. Additionally, a remix of ‘Make A Wish’ saw Teutoburg-Weiß sharing the mic with CASPER, MARTERIA, SSIO, and Felix Brummer from KRAFTKLUB, reaffirming the BEATSTEAKS’ status as true “Gentlemen of the Year.”
After a short break, the BEATSTEAKS are now returning this year. Fans can once again look forward to groundbreaking concerts- because every BEATSTEAKS show is truly an event. Seeing BEATSTEAKS live means ecstasy, liberation, letting loose, celebrating together, and collective frenzy. From day one, their unique live energy has captivated an ever-growing audience. Finding a more electrifying live band today would be a challenge.
