Tito & Tarantula and Special Guest
Who doesn’t know the song ‘After Dark’ from the movie ‘From Dusk till Dawn’? Tito was in town and we took the chance to visit his show. As I entered the venue about 30 minutes before the show was supposed to start a quite large amount of people welcomed me in the foyer area. As the doors were opened some minutes later a constant flow was running to the stage and all were waiting for the band to come. But first there was ‘Special guest’ announced too… and in fact the band is really called that way.

Ensiferum, Orphaned Land, Spellbound, Noise Forest
This evening the final concert event of this year's 'Wacken Road Show'-tour took place in the 'Röhre' in Stuttgart. It was the fourth 'W.O.A. Road Show' under the motto "Wacken comes to your town!" so far; this concert series is conceived as a kind of warm-up for the festival in August. 'Ensiferum' and 'Noise Forest' had already played last year's 'W.O.A.'. Actually, the German band 'Knorkator' were to conclude this concert evening, but they had cancelled their show; instead, 'Noise Forest' got the chance to play. They were the first ones on stage to prove their skills. The 'Röhre', a modified tunnel section, is a pretty small venue for concerts; nevertheless, there was enough space, because the number of visitors really kept in limits. In the beginning, it seemed that most of them had more likely come to have a beer and a nice conversation. Near the entrance, a promotion stand offered its goods for sale - and everywhere you could see the obligatory skull. With a little delay the first band of the evening was finally announced and some people began moving towards the stage.

Katatonia & Novembre
Katatonia don't really need a big introduction, the band's been around for what seems half an eternity and each release has been a classic album. The Swedes just released their new album ‘The Great Cold Distance’ a couple of weeks ago and embarked on a tour through Europe, featuring label mates Novembre as support act. The tour brought them to the Zeche Carl in Essen, which is basically around the corner (well, it isn't, you have to drive an hour, but you get the idea and so on) which, naturally, was a great opportunity to see them live. The Zeche got quite packed as the evening progressed, but more to that later.

Leaves' Eyes, Sylver Myst, Elis
Tonight would be the third time for me to visit a concert from Leaves' Eyes. I like Liv Kristine's soft, angelic voice in combination with the dark sound of heavy guitars. When I arrived at the venue the first band, Elis, was already playing. The hall was less than half filled and during the rest of the evening there weren't many more people that arrived. The venue was large enough to contain an audience of about 800 people. I estimate that this evening the audience consisted of about 300 people, and among them a lot who came from Germany. A partition was placed in the middle of the hall to make it appear more crowded.

Tanzwut & Red Ink
It’s a very nice day in spring when ‘Tanzwut’ came to play in Oberhausen – in fact maybe the day was too nice to spend the evening in a concert hall. ‘Tanzwut’ are back on tour again to present their brand-new album ‘Schattenreiter’ which was just released in April 2006. Support was the Metal-core band ‘Red Ink’ from the eastern part of Germany.
