The K17 was very well frequented in spite of AND ONE's concert which also took place in Berlin tonight. The venue filled during the performance of support band EMINENCE OF DARKNESS (= EoD).

The Dreamside, Sophya, Courtesan, Letatlin
There had been a lot of advertising about this special Halloweenparty that would take place in a venue in Amsterdam, owned by Agnes Jasper. She's also known as a musician from the band Clan Of Xymox and as a fire artist. In Goliath she organises gothic "Bal Du Masque" parties. For only €2,50 you would be admitted to this evening’s Halloweenparty where 4 bands had been invited to play for half an hour each. It was hard to find the venue because a few roads were blocked due to an excavated building-site around it. It seemed that Goliath was almost the only undestroyed building, standing in the middle this site. When I finally arrived the doors were still closed. There were already some people standing in front of the building. We heard that Agnes had been involved in a carcrash that day, so the evening started all but smoothly. Fortunately she was alright, but quite stressed about the course of this evening. And indeed, misfortunes never come single: also the necessary sound utilities hadn’t arrived, so the bands were unable to do proper soundchecks. The venue itself looked very cosy with a large bar and a small stage with red curtains hanging in the front.

Newcomer Contest "Metal": Firereign, Scratched Surface, Mindead, Soulsick and Crowd in Anger
This Friday evening the Longhorn in Stuttgart had called all the metal heads from the surrounding areas to a Newcomer Metal Contest. In the run-up to this event there had been an online voting; each band not signed so far and with its own web presence had the possibility to apply for this voting. Five bands, namely FIREREIGN from Esslingen, SCRATCHED SURFACE from Göppingen, MINDEAD from Stuttgart, SOULSICK from Zwiefalten and CROWD IN ANGER from Ostelsheim had survived the online poll and now had the opportunity to play on the Longhorn stage in front of a bigger audience and maybe get one of the prizes. About 300 Metal-hooked people had found their way to the venue. The jury, consisting among others of the FARMER BOYS’ drummer Till Hartmann and representatives of Nuclear Blast and metal.de, would estimate the bands' music and performance and announce the winners when the contest came to its end. The prizes were money and another possibility for a live performance. My favorites, the congenial CROWD IN ANGER, finished third, FIREREIGN won second prize and MINDEAD were the night's winners.
