Right in time for the Halloween fest, German trio AGONOIZE releases a new EP called ‘For the Sick and Disturbed’ to quench the hunger of their craving crowd.
I’ve never made a secret out of the fact that I’m not considering myself a fan of their music and their attitude. Much too cliché-laden are their lyrics and also their music isn’t the re-invention of the wheel. That alone wouldn’t be a problem if there weren’t always the same topics: Pain, Suffering. ‘A Cut inside my Soul’ is a typical AGONOIZE club anthem with well-known sequences, but a higher melody amount. ‘Schaufensterpuppenarsch’ then is a little faster and even more club-compatible. The only exceptions on the EP is a somewhat balladry tune named ‘In deinem Grab’ with piano and more melody than any other AGONOIZE song I know so far. Nevertheless it’s not blowing me out off my socks and once again it’s the lyrics that disturb me. I mean everyone has their own way to deal with loss, but this way?
If you liked the previous releases of AGONOIZE then this one surely pleases your ears too, if not this record won’t convert you.
