HURTS are back to celebrate 15 years of their smash hit album ‘Happiness’! The duo HURTS, consisting of Theo Hutchcraft and Adam Anderson, made their debut in 2010 with their album ‘Happiness’ and became an overnight sensation. The fourth and final day of WGT always arrives with a strange emotional duality - how did time fly so quickly, and how can it already be almost over? As tradition demands, I packed my suitcase, got myself ready, and headed toward Leipzig main station to stow away my luggage. My instincts told me to plan for disruption, so I had my backup plans ready - marked in the Pfingstbote, in the app, and on old-school paper - especially along the familiar route of Line 11.

Like every morning during the WGT, I began my day with a fresh round of scheduling - pen in one hand, Pfingstbote and WGT app in the other - only to once again conclude that to experience everything this festival has to offer, one would need to split into four. Or perhaps clone oneself. The depth and variety of the programme is astounding: concerts, readings, performances, exhibitions - often running parallel.

If there’s one constant at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen, it is that at least one day will defy even the most carefully laid plans. So I came prepared: multiple schedules marked up in the WGT app, handwritten alternatives on paper, passages highlighted in the Pfingstbote - my personal survival kit for the inevitable shifts of fate. On this particular Saturday, it would be the weather playing its whimsical tricks. Still, no forecast could dampen the spirit of exploration this festival always awakens in me.
