Sasha Raoul (vocals, guitar) and Rick Manson (guitar) from Deathtrippers
Goth music is traditionally associated with all that is dark, melancholy and macabre. So the concept of a psychedelic goth band sounds like an oxymoron. Yet Leeds based band DEATHTRIPPERS are often described as just that. Established in 2015 by the charismatic frontman Sasha Raoul, DEATHTRIPPERS are a kaleidoscope of psychedelic Rock / Goth / Shoegaze and Electro. The band is comprised of Sasha, Rick Manson on guitars and Beth O Mas on keyboards, their eclectic and somewhat transient style is a result of Sasha’s experimentation with multiple genres from Goth to Acid House and Garage.

Anja Huwe (XMal Deutschland)
It’s a snowy afternoon on March 13th as I meet Anja Huwe over Zoom, catching her in between various engagements. We have only half an hour, but as the conversation unfolds, it becomes clear that this brief window will take us on a fascinating journey - one that bridges the past and future of her artistry, spanning both music and visual expression.

Torul
Some bands follow trends, and then there are bands like TORUL, who exist in a realm entirely their own, sculpting soundscapes that defy convention while resonating with deep emotional complexity. With their latest album, ‘Superposition’, the Slovenian trio once again pushes the boundaries of Darkwave, Synthpop, and alternative electronic music, crafting an experience that is both introspective and electrifying. Much like the quantum principle of superposition, the album explores the idea of existing in multiple states at once - emotionally, musically, and thematically. It is an album of paradoxes: sleek yet raw, melancholic yet uplifting, precise yet organic.

Séverine Cayron & Jérôme Vandewattyne from Pornographie Exclusive & Yannick Franck from Antibody Label
PORNOGRAPHIE EXCLUSIVE is a Belgian duo, a couple both on stage and in life, composed of Séverine Cayron and Jérôme Vandewattyne. Their music shatters the boundaries between musical genres, concocting an alchemical blend of Cold-Wave, Goth-Rock, Psychedelic, Darkwave, Shoegaze, Krautrock, Techno, Industrial influences, all sublimated by a cinematographic dimension. Both artists are also active in the seventh art: Séverine as an actress and Jérôme as a film director. And, the cherry on the cake, Séverine plays the cello wonderfully, giving their concerts a decidedly epic breath. They play so-called cine-concerts, in which they play their songs live while there is a screening, behind them, of their movie ‘One-Way Ticket To The Other Side’. They do it in movie theatres but it's also possible in “normal” music venues.

David Reiterer (vocals) from Lucy Dreams
I had the exclusive pleasure of listening to LUCY DREAMS’ upcoming single ‘Be Here Now’ ahead of its release on March 28, and their performance at EMPATHY TEST’s show in Leipzig only reinforced what makes them such a compelling act. Their music is more than just a blend of electronic soundscapes and pop sensibilities - it’s an evolving concept, a fusion of human creativity and artificial intelligence that raises questions about the future of music, technology, and existence itself.
