Progressive Nation 2009: Dream Theater, Opeth, Bigelf, Unexpect
The spearhead of Progressive Metal had invited to come to the Frankfurt Jahrhunderthalle on 18th October 2009 and many attendees followed the call on that Sunday evening. Freezing and jittering due to arctic temperatures, they queued up in an exemplary manner waiting patiently for the admission which finally ran smoothly. UNEXPECT should be the first act supporting DREAM THEATER followed up by BIGELF and OPETH.

Skunk Anansie, Chairlift, The Rakes, Eternal Tango
On 11th October 2009, the time had come and the 23rd Rocknacht was about to begin. Short after 5 PM, the doors of the E-Werk in Cologne opened and the first attendees entered the venue. 4 bands were to perform this evening, headlined by SKUNK ANANSIE who reunited after 8 years and have produced a new album due out in November. Now, I was confronted with a real downer also not meeting with positive reactions from the audience. 3 cameras had been built up in front of the stage and prevented a constantly clear view on the protagonists on stage. It was disturbing and unnerving and as much as I understand the necessity of recording the show, there must be a better solution to do that.

Colos-Saal, Aschaffenburg, Germany
19th October 2009Peter Murphy, Lettie
When former BAUHAUS vocalist and solo artist PETER MURPHY announced to tour European clubs within the scope of his recent „Secret Cover Tour“ in this year’s autumn, I got excited about and counted down the weeks until the Aschaffenburg concert should take place. On 19th October 2009, that day had finally come and I went to my favourite music club Colos-Saal again. Just in time, I arrived at the front doors and entered the hall which was pretty empty at that moment. A few attendees, most of them obviously thirty-somethings who were dressed in black, spent their time sitting on the bar stools and having some drinks. Since I wanted to take photos, I preferred a standing room in the first row. It was about 8 pm when supporting act LETTIE came on stage.
