Bochum Total is a city festival. Besides a lot of different food and drinks, music is the main issue. And all the bands you can see for free. It´s a festival that presents progressive and original music through all genres. Bochum Total not only presents the big names but is also a platform for musical experiments. During the last years, bands like “Donots”, “Wir sind Helden”, “Oomph”, “Mia” or “Die Happy” were playing here. Further more the festival gives new bands from the region a chance to perform live in front of a big audience. Bochum Total is the second biggest festival in Northrhine-Westfalia (region of Germany) after the “Ring-Fest” in Cologne. During the last years the amount of visitors increased steadily, so there were counted between 650,000 and 850,000 visitors in the last 3 years each.
This year was the 20th anniversary of the festival. Bands from different countries like Denmark, Switzerland, Italy or Great Britain were welcomed. Within the huge amount of bands playing this year, there were also some bands for the black souls.

Gåte
Langesund is a tiny village on the southern coast of Norway, home of nothing in particular, except for a ferry line to Denmark and a concert venue. The venue does, however, frequently get visits from bands of a certain size – at least on a Norwegian scale. On this particular warm and sunny Friday Gåte (in English “Riddle”) were the guests on the little outdoor stage built up in the backyard of an old merchant mansion nearby the sea. Even though the audiences could be counted on two hands when I arrived an hour before the concert, the area did eventually fill up rather well, with 250 paying visitors.

July 2nd and 3rd 2005
Marillion, Uriah Heep, Iron Maiden, Porcupine Tree, Y&T, My Dying Bride, Within Temptation, Overkill, Masterplan, Mastodon, In Extremo, Dragon Force, SQY Rocking Team
Bospop 2005 was a great success for chairman Peter Verkennis. With the 25th anniversary he received a recommendation in the Order of Orange-Nassau for his work at the Bospop festival and the music centre “De Bosuil” . With a good variety of rock/metal and popular music from the early days. It was the best 25th anniversary ever! With many successes from the past and present, we have seen most of the shows with a few exceptions. Bospop 2005 has been a festival of contradictions with dark clouds on Saturday and a burning sun on Sunday. I gained even more respect for bands like Iron Maiden and Uriah Heep who have been with us for so long and still kick ass! A weekend for all ages and with great spectacle!
For us Bospop 2005 starts at july 2nd at 16:45 with de band Uriah Heep.

June 26th 2005
Within Temptation, Drowned, Killing Joke
On a hot summers day 350.000 people had gathered in the park to enjoy the sun, enjoy the music and celebrate this 25th edition of Parkpop. A wide range of musicians came here to entertain the audience. For instance the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra, a group of Japanese men shaking things up with their cheerful ska, Fish who used to be the singer of Marillion had brought along many fans who could sing along with each of his sensitive and warm notes and many more bands ranging from local bands to bands from all over Europe.

June 24th 2005
Trisomy, Ashen, Valkyre
While many metal heads are sweating their pants off at the Graspop Metal Meeting where temperatures reached 30+ we found ourselves at the Musicon in The Hague. The Musicon is just a small venue, more like a youth centre but with two rehearsal rooms in the back. It as set up by Barry Hay, singer of the Dutch rock band Golden Earring and features a rather small stage in the main room. This concert had to start some 45 mins later than planned because apparently the electricity wasn't really calculated on using all the equipment and the stage lights at the same time, the fuses were blown out. After this delay the few visitors saw 3 bands on stage, let's see who they are and how they did.
