The Arena Company, Concert and Conference, Linköping, Sweden.
The 6th of February 2009
Deathstars with pre act The Other Flesh.

This venue in Linköping was a pretty strange one, I have never seen anything quite like it, and the place in the venue where the concert was going to happen was in the middle of the building surrounded by brick walls and glass. When we talked with Andreas and Ole during the interview before the show they were surprised with how the venue looked like too.

When this tour first was announced Swedish SONIC SYNDICATE was to be the pre act but then words came that the Swedish band THE OTHER FLESH was going to be pre act instead at the tour start in Stockholm the 5th of February and in Linköping tonight. I had never heard of THE OTHER FLESH before and I well let’s just say that they didn’t get a lot of new fans on this show. The audience that had come to see DEATHSTARS was not easily amused by the pre act and I don’t really understand how and why the choice had fallen on this band that are like day and night compared to DEATHSTARS.

Music & Performance
DEATHSTARS entered the stage dressed in their new dark uniforms, black hair and white make up and kicked off the show with the song ‘Night Electric Night’. It’s one of my favourite songs on their new record and it was cool to hear it live for the first time. DEATHSTARS had planned a good and interesting set list with a mix of songs from their three albums (Synthetic Generation, Terminal Bliss and Night Electric Night). They played songs like ‘Eye of the Gun’, ‘The Last Ammunition’ and ‘Mother Zone’.

Before they played ‘Motherzone’ the crowd was shouting that they wanted to hear ‘Blitzkrieg’ but they had to wait some time for it, then when it came on the set the crowd went wild. I liked to hear some of the songs from their last album especially ‘Trinity Fields’, ‘Cyanide’ and ‘Virtue to Vice’. The band really made a good show and especially Cat and Skinny seemed to be full of energy. ‘Blood Stains Blondes’ is cool live as well as ‘Death Dies Hard’ and ‘The Fuel Ignites’. The show ended with the song ‘The Revolution Exodus’ from their first record. I was some disappointed that I didn’t get to hear ‘Venus in Arms’ or the in media pretty famous ‘Via The End’ but maybe I get to hear them some other time, this was after all just the beginning of their tour.
