She Past Away - “Disko Anksiyete” Tour - Support: Twin Noir
SHE PAST AWAY is a Dark Wave / Post-Punk duo consisting of Volkan Caner (vocals, guitars and songwriting) and Doruk Ozturkcan (drums, synthesiser and production). Experimenting with the old/ new aesthetics of synth music in their core guitars, SHE PAST AWAY forged a sound, attitude and sensibility that was conveyed through a minimalist poetry sung in Turkish to an audience through a dense, continuous epic journey in both their recordings and live performances.
SHE PAST AWAY released their critically acclaimed first EP ‘Kasvetli Kutlama’ in April 2009 via Remoov. Following the digital release of their debut album ‘Belirdi Gece’ in February 2012, the band was signed to Fabrika Records in 2013 and released ‘Belirdi Gece’ in LP format shortly thereafter. Including ‘Rituel’, ‘Ruh’ as well as ‘Kasvetli Kutlama’, the album was listed as one of the best albums of the decade in 2010.
2019 by post-punk.com: With the release of their follow-up album ‘Narin Yalnızlık’ in May 2015, the duo established themselves as one of Dark Wave music’s most influential and successful genre-defining acts, scoring numerous crowd-pulling performances around the world. Not long after the release, Volkan moved to Barcelona and Doruk to Athens to project their career in Europe, continuing to tour and work on the new album. In December 2018, the band signed with Metropolis Records and reissued both albums in North America. Before their North / South American tour in May 2019, the band honoured their audience with a beautifully dark and driving new album ‘Disko Anksiyete’ via Metropolis Records and Fabrika Records. SHE PAST AWAY is a driving, hypnotising burst of sentimental angst through the nihilistic mind frame. It's both personal and broad, like a wandering spirit brave enough to question taboo and existence.
Support: TWIN NOIR - Cody Barcelona (guitar, electronics, vocals) and Ian Volt (bass, vocals) are the two artists who don’t shy away from melodic or Pop moments with their sometimes dark, sometimes satirical-Dadaistic, but mostly technoid-monotonous sounds. ‘2 Punks and a Tape Machine’ is not only their eleven-song debut, but also their credo. TWIN NOIR’s sound is based on New Wave and Post-Punk with technoid beats, driving bass and catchy melodies. Basslines and guitars from the punk and rock of the 70s to 90s meet music history pioneers such as KRAFTWERK or DAF, but the EBM and Techno scenes can also be found in the soundscapes of TWIN NOIR. With socio-critical and satirical-Dadaistic lyrics in German, which often make use of minimalism as a stylistic device, TWIN NOIR always manages to break through their often gloomy, destructive guise with optimism and euphoria. Cody Barcelona and Ian Volt are driven by a tape machine, a sampler and a theremin - all completely analogue. TWIN NOIR doesn’t waste any time live. They open the door and deliver their danceable sound, inspired by Berlin punk, clubs and variety shows, straight to the audience. The result: the basis for collective movement.
