For more than 25 years, ASP have remained one of the defining forces in the German-speaking Rock scene - essential, unmistakable, and as uncompromising as ever. Always authentic, always true to themselves and their fans, ASP continue to follow their own path - and in 2026, more than ever before.
Back in 1999, a young band confidently - and seemingly paradoxically - asked the German Rock scene a simple question: “Did You Miss Me?” Fans looking for something deeper, darker, and different answered with a resounding “yes” - and they have continued to do so for more than a quarter of a century. Over the years, ASP have become one of the defining acts of the German Dark Rock scene.
Fronted by the unmistakable Alexander Spreng (aka Asp), whose theatrical appearance became one of the band’s trademarks, ASP have always embraced artistic complexity while maintaining an effortless sense of accessibility. Their music effortlessly moves between Heavy Rock, Electronic music, Folk ballads, and countless other influences - without ever fitting neatly into a single genre. Instead, every musical style serves the stories told throughout their ambitious concept albums, making each release a unique chapter in the ever-expanding universe created by the band.
One thing has always remained certain: ASP are an exceptional live experience. Whether performing their own headline concerts, topping the bill at Dark Scene festivals, or appearing on major Metal stages such as Wacken Open Air and Rockharz, the band has consistently delivered unforgettable performances. Following their live hiatus, they are now ready to prove exactly that once again in 2026.
For more than twenty-five years, mastermind and namesake Asp Spreng has crafted a rich and imaginative world through interconnected story cycles, creating what has become known as Gothic Novel Rock - a genre entirely of the band’s own making.
Most recently, ASP surprised audiences with the acclaimed album ‘Horrors’, which departed from their traditional long-form narratives in favour of shorter musical horror stories - or Gothic novellas - offering a refreshing twist on their signature storytelling style. During their anniversary year in 2024, the band revisited their legacy with ‘Returning to Haunted Places’, a stunning reinterpretation of classic ASP songs that celebrated both their past and their continuing artistic evolution.
Following that release, the band immersed themselves in creating handcrafted acoustic arrangements, revealing a more intimate side of the ASP universe without sacrificing any of the passion, intensity, or emotional depth that have always defined their music. The story continues...
When ASP return to the stage in 2026, fans can look forward to something truly special.
