BUSH are returning to Germany! After their appearances at Rock Am Ring and Rock Im Park last weekend, the British Rock icons, fronted by Gavin Rossdale, are playing four headline shows in the country this June. Last night was Cologne’s turn and the band played at the sold-out Carlswerk Victoria.

And suddenly, it was already the final day. Every year, it is exactly the same. Months of anticipation culminate in four intense days that somehow pass in the blink of an eye. By Monday morning, my entire body had begun filing complaints. My head was already slowly switching into departure mode, while my legs were negotiating every additional kilometre with increasing reluctance.

By Sunday, the festival rhythm had fully taken over. The accumulated kilometres were beginning to make themselves felt in my legs, yet WGT has never been solely about music. One of the reasons I return year after year is the extraordinary cultural programme surrounding the concerts. Lectures, exhibitions, performances, churches, museums, fashion shows, readings, and art installations all contribute to making Wave-Gotik-Treffen something far beyond a conventional music festival.

Wave Gotik Treffen 2026 Day 2 with Steampunk Picnic, Oh Hiroshima, Myrna Loy, Cat Rapes Dog, Grausame Töchter, Tabernis, Covenant and Velvet Violence Afterparty
After a surprisingly sensible ending to the previous day, Saturday quickly reminded me that Wave Gotik Treffen is less a festival and more a marathon disguised as a cultural event. Armed with a fully charged camera, questionable amounts of sleep, and a renewed determination to make the most of the weekend, I once again found myself heading toward Clara-Zetkin-Park.

Wave Gotik Treffen 2026 Day 1 with Victorian Picnic, Ductape, Voyna, Kim Wilde, Hrafngrímr, Einstürzende Neubauten, Anja Huwe, Kompromat
This year’s Wave Gotik Treffen began a little differently for me. While my official festival journey started on Friday, I had actually arrived in Leipzig already on Thursday. The original plan was ambitious enough: pick up my wristband, perhaps attend one of the opening events at Moritzbastei or spend the evening at one of the AGRA parties. Reality, however, had other plans.
