Deviant UK and AlterRed - Double Headliner one off show - Support: Berlyn Trilogy
For the last couple of decades, a Goth night called “Carpe Noctum” has shone the lantern of Goth in Leeds, a city some would argue was the centre of the Goth Universe in the 80s. The organiser is a well-known figure on the scene and has worked hard to build the reputation of “Carpe Noctum” - so much so he has guest DJ sets at other prime UK Goth events such as the Whitby Weekends. Both headline bands, and the support are all good friends. Musically they have one common driving force; dark electronics - but perhaps particularly the legend that is GARY NUMAN.

Callejon - “Hartgeld im Club” Pt. 2 - Support: Our Mirage, The Thrill
The current tour was called “Hartgeld im Club” which match the current album, and just as fittingly, only smaller clubs were on the list again. Because of a high demand, they added more dates to the tour and so at the end of the year, the second part took place. So also the Saarbrücken fans got a good pack of Metalcore before the New Year. All the fun was accompanied by the bands THE THRILL and OUR MIRAGE.

Northlane - “Alien World Tour” 2019 - Support: Void Of Vision, Polaris
NORTHLANE are celebrating ten years of band jubilee this year, so it seems all the more logical that after the successful albums ‘Node’ (2015) and ‘Mesmer’ (2017) they now released ‘Alien’. They do not tie up to the past albums. With ‘Alien’ they entered new territory, a hybrid between Tech Metal, booming Drum’n’Bass beats and hardcore synthesizers, but they didn’t lose their typical NORTHLANE sound. ‘Alien’ is probably the most personal, but also most disturbing album of the band. Reason enough to go on tour with it. On Thursday the Australians visited the Grand Duchy with their compatriots POLARIS and VOID OF VISION.

Children of Bodom - “A Chapter Called Children Of Bodom” - Support: Wheel
I had to swallow hard, when I left Helsinki Ice Hall that night, “A Chapter Called Children Of Bodom” was over and I still couldn‘t grasp, that a band I‘d been listening to for almost 20 years vanished from my life tonight… I arrived at Jäähalli a lot earlier than on Friday and still the lines were significantly longer. It seemed that the entrance and the cloakroom were terribly understaffed. There were long lines at both merch tables and the event-shirts sold so fast that only very large sizes were available when I made it there. People seemed to have the desire to buy as many keepsakes as possible and many things sold out during the evening.
