Prophecy Fest 2016 Day 2 with Wöljager Music Theatre, Völur, Bohren & Der Club of Gore, Antimatter, GlerAkur, Alcest, Sol Invictus and Vemod
After a wonderful first festival day I was quite excited already and was very much looking forward the second day. One band I was really looking forward to see was BOHREN & DER CLUB OF GORE, a band I always missed when they were around. Furthermore I was eager to see ANTIMATTER who I love a lot and ALCEST of whom many people were excitedly talking about. The big surprise of the day was GLERAKUR though, a band from Iceland blowing me totally away. But before we entered the cave on Saturday, there was a special music theatre of WÖLJAGER taking place at nearby Hönnetalhalle.

The morning is starting with the hard rock aerobic in front of the main stage (for me, just in the schedule paper... I promise next year I'll be less lazy :) ). The heat in tents is rising, as sun is climbing up the sky, and pushing everyone to come outside. It is so hot that even tattoos are melting! :)

During the first day, heavy rain and thunder storms were forecasted and at the end we only had light rain. On the second festival day, summer welcomed us with hot and dry weather. Luckily, we had the beach back and so you found many people relaxing at the beach and having some drinks there. The line-up in the second day offered of course the well-known bands, but also had some barely known ones in stock.

Prophecy Fest 2016 Day 1 with Hekate, Germ, Les Discrets, Iron Mountain, Secrets of the Moon and Helrunar
For the second time, Prophecy Fest was taking place in a natural cave from Old Stone Age - Balver Höhle. According to Germanic Saga, the blacksmith Wieland had his workshop in the cave. Balve, Germany, is situated between Dortmund, Cologne, Frankfurt and Hannover. The cave is Europe's biggest cultural cave. Last year, the festival was only one day long. This time, it was enlarged to a two-day event with a warm-up one day before.

The Tanzbrunnen Cologne, which had gotten close to our hearts and characterized the Amphi Festival sustainably from 2006 till 2014, was available again in 2016. “Home is where the heart is“, as the folks say. Therefore the festival returned to the place people love. With coziness and summer open air feeling, for example the fountain-lounge is back, as well as the popular beach club along with pure holiday feeling. Alongside the open air stage at Tanzbrunnen and the indoor stage at Theater am Tanzbrunnen promoters prepared another neat surprise, the new Orbit Stage.
