Wave Gotik Treffen Day 4: Nachtgeschrei, Orange Sector, Patenbrigade:Wolff, KMFDM, VNV Nation and Ulver
The fourth and final day of the WGT started as busy as the last ended with a short trip to the Heidnisches Dorf for one of the two NACHTGESCHREI gigs and an extensive stay at the Agra for some shopping, socializing and staring. There the Monday prepared greats of the electro genre like PATENBRIGADE WOLFF, KMFDM and VNV NATION. Since the weather was on our side with some extensive sunshine, we enjoyed the atmosphere in between gigs on the numerous food stands outside the hall. Finally we made a last stop for one of this day’s headliners ULVER at the Kuppelhalle before we started our trip back in the late hours of this year’s Whitsun.

Dark Waters Festival Day 2: Dreams Divide, Berlin Black, The Mekano Set, Rhombus, Skeletal Family
A windy and wet Saturday did little to dampen spirits for day two of the festival, and the weather gave a good excuse to spend several hours browsing at Void Clothing in the afternoon. Events got under way punctually back at the Britannia Boat Club, and there was an expectant buzz as the first band of the evening took to the stage.

Dark Waters Festival Day 1: Bad Pollyanna, Momento Mori, Naked Lunch, Red Sun Revival, Golden Apes
Nudging the banks of the river Trent in Nottingham, and in the shadow of the football stadium, the Britannia Boat Club seems an unlikely setting for a festival celebrating all things dark. Indeed, as you walk towards it, the majority of people on show are glistening and tanned, carrying boats to and from the river, more concerned with the bulky man shouting instructions through a megaphone than the scattering of the Black-Clad beginning to arrive. But once in the venue it all becomes clear. Apart from the bar area facing the river, the place is one large, man-made cave, complete with dark alcoves and surely one of the most bizarre stage areas in existence. A perfect place, then, to showcase some fifteen bands over three nights, and as the place begins to fill up, it becomes clear that people have travelled from far and wide to be here.

Bon Jovi & Christina Stürmer
Last Saturday, BON JOVI were celebrating the last show of their German tour in the nearly sold-out Rhein-Energie-Stadion in Cologne. Nearly 42,000 people showed up to see this show of the “Because We Can” tour. And for this last Germany tour, the band was delivering a special program with a reworked setlist and many surprises. Two and a half hours of electrifying Rock were awaiting the audience.
