October 1st 2005
Epica, Orphaned Land, Disillusion, Troes of Dawn, Anubis Gate, Green Carnation
When the leaves are falling down the first indoor festivals are starting. One of those is the Progpower festival. A well-known name, also outside Europe, and this tour hits the Netherlands as well. This weekend people from all over the world come to Baarlo. There are people from Italy, Austria and even Poland. The small venue has a good atmosphere for all those people and bands, whose members afterwards make a little chat with the people present.

After Forever
Outside of the venue you can see they are not even finished with all the building and constructing but they are heading in the right direction though. While waiting in line for the guest list tickets our high heals sunk away in the sand but in the meantime we could admire the bat cave like office in which these tickets were distributed. The alarm system was not working as it should for while we were waiting there it went off three times. When entering the venue you have to climb a beautifully red carpeted staircase to reach the wardrobe. After this you enter a hall with bathrooms (which were out of paper half way through the evening) and the stairs to the main hall. If you have ever been in the old Effenaar you’ll be surprised to see how big it is now. Everyone is though off, for there is even a wheelchair lift to get up the platform, where you have a better view of the stage. All in all this seems to be a great make over and a new pop temple has risen. The venue has not even been opened officially but tonight After Forever could present their new album there.

Epica and Trisomy
While it gets darker, earlier day by day, the fans of Epica had used the cover of night and gather at the entrance of P60 in Amstelveen. A very nice, modern, venue with plenty of room for tonight's audience and good facilities for both bands. Epica was supported this night by Trisomy, whose guitarist Michiel was playing a home town show today.

Bon Jovi
This was the day I had hoped to join and thanks to my friend Shirley I was able to. The fact was that Bon Jovi was about to give 3 special concerts across the whole world to promote their upcoming album ‘Have a nice day’: one in Tokyo for Asia, one in New York for America and one in Amsterdam for Europe. You can image that it was a big struggle to get tickets for the show in Amsterdam, knowing that the entire continent of Europe wants to go there!
