My biggest wish for this project was that we have the participants from all countries and continents around the world. Today I am a one step closer to this. Dennis Abrahams is drummer from HERESY, a band from Costa Rica. As the band writes about themselves: “Profane Metal from the veins of Latin America.” The band was formed in 2011 and has visited around 26 countries and played with very big bands on one stage. On the 9th May 2020, the band has released their first live album ‘Aquelarre - Heredia en vivo’. So, I am very happy that Dennis has found time for me to speak about his amazing tattoos. - Details

Chris Dougherty is vocalist and guitar player of the young Metalcore, Screamo, Punk, Rock, Metal band WORLD HELD HOSTAGE from Stockport / Manchester. The band was founded in 2019 but the guys have already released a single, ‘Bunker Zero’, and made the video for it. Now, the band is working on the first album, ‘The Collapse’; the cover to it was already presented on the band’s Facebook page. Chris’ story is not ordinary, as his band’s is too, so let’s look in it. Reflections of Darkness [RoD]: When did you get your first tattoo and what was it? Did it take much time until you decided to get it done?
Chris: I actually don’t remember getting my first tattoo. Due to some unfortunate circumstances I lost 26 years of memory which is a whole story in itself. I do know though that my first tattoo was the Wyvern on my chest. According to my brother I got it when I was 19 as a birthday present to myself. As for the why I can only speculate.

Our today’s guest comes from wonderful Athens in Greece. Billy Vass is singer and songwriter of progressive Heavy Metal band TERRA INCOGNITA. In 2018/2019 came the second album of this band, ‘Fragments of a Ruined Mind’. This year, the band has made an amazing adaptation of the song ‘Stranger’ from George Dalaras. But we have of course spoken not about music but about tattoos. Billy was generous to show us all his beautiful tattoos, so let’s have a look. - Details

I am always excited to find new great music for my playlist. DEADTHRONE, a Metal band from Manchester, was a big enrichment for my collection. And I am very happy that Benj, the drummer of this band, has found time for an interview with me. On 2 August 2019, the band has released their debut album, ‘Premonitions’, which I found very promising. But now we go back to our main topic - tattoos! Benj has such amazing coloured examples!Reflections of Darkness [RoD]: When did you get your first tattoo and what was it? Did it take much time until you decided to get it done?
Benj: I was 18 when I got my first tattoo. I always wanted a swallow tattoo - I think it was because my grandfather had given himself one and that was the catalyst for that idea. I wanted to incorporate something musical into the piece because I was studying music at the time and kind of wanted to timestamp that period of my life on my skin, so I remember sketching up a drawing of a swallow intertwined with a treble clef and that’s what became my first. I booked in with a local artist but I didn’t know the artist or their work - at that age I didn’t really care or know anything about tattoos.

Today, we have a guest from an Alternative Rock band - TEARS’ HEAVEN or TRST from Italy. Atlas Heaven is the singer, he played bass and synth in this band. A few years ago, the band released their first album, ‘Origine’. It was a real joy to speak with Atlas about his tattoos. I am always happy to meet people who accept the tattoos in the same way as I do, as art and something personal and meaningful.
