Backstage, Munich, Germany
17th October 2010
Anathema, Petter Carlsen, Long Distance Calling

On this rather wintry autumn day we came along on the wide way to Munich to enjoy the band ANATHEMA there, supported by PETTER CARLSEN and LONG DISTANCE CALLING.

Petter Carlsen

PETTER CARLSEN is still a quite young singer and songwriter from Norway. At the end of August 2009 he published his debut album ‘You Go Bird’. Currently he finishes his works on his second album with 11 new songs. He published from it the single ‘Spirits in Need’. www.myspace.com/pettercarlsen

Music & Performance
Earlier than intended PETTER CARLSEN was entering the stage. He looked a little bit shy and thus only with his guitar already almost a little bit lost on the big stage. Then he started pulling the already present people under his spell with his sensitive songs. He inspired the listeners scanty half an hour before he left the stage under deserving applause.

Long Distance Calling

The German Post-rock band LONG DISTANCE CALLING coming from Münster was founded in 2006. Their music is predominantly instrumental and is deposited only partially with linguistic samples, as for example with extracts from works by Kafka. In 2009 their second album ‘Avoid the Light’ appeared on which Jonas Renske from KATATONIA is to be heard with the song ‘The Nearing Grave’ as a guest singer. http://www.longdistancecalling.de/

Music & Performance
At 8:30, David Jordan (guitar), Janosch Rathmer (percussion), Florian Füntmann (guitar), Jan Hoffmann (bass) and Reimut van Bonn entered the stage. They started to bring the audience in ebullition in the already better filled hall. The listeners danced together enthusiastically and for the photographers it became really narrow by that in the first row, because there was no photo ditch. After good half an hour, this appearance was also over and was recompensed properly with applause.

Anathema

British band ANATHEMA was founded in 1990 under the name PAGAN ANGEL as a Metal band. With their music they influenced even some other bands. In the course of time, their music developed to quite an own form of melancholy Alternative Rock. In June 2010, they published already their eighth album with ‘We're Here Because We're Here’. www.anathema.ws/

Music & Performance
Then shortly after 9:30 it was tome for the evening’s headliner and the quite long expected ANATHEMA, consisting of Vincent Cavanagh (vocals, guitar, vocoder), Danny Cavanagh (guitar, vocals, keyboards), Lee Douglas (vocals), Les Smith (keyboards), Jamie Cavanagh (bass) and John Douglas (drums), entered the stage. From the very beginning, they inspired the listeners with their atmospheric and melodic songs, which were not often passed through by more powerful passages. The fans joined in the singing and pulled out their lighters and it was a wonderful atmosphere in the hall which was very full by now.

However, unfortunately, after a little bit more than two hours this experience also came to an end… This evening was really quite a special pleasure which will remain quite long in memory of the happy listeners.
