With her velvety voice and her folksy, groovy pop tunes with jazz, soul and reggae influences AMI sings about love, relationships and things everybody comes across in life. The song choice is well-balanced and slower minimalistic tracks accompanied by only acoustic guitar finger-pickings take turns with up-tempo songs backed by a steady rhythm as well as saxophone, trombone and e-guitar parts. Although most of the lyrics deal with rather sad topics, the melodies and rhythm transport easiness, which leaves the feeling that there will always be a flicker of hope despite all the entanglements and catch-22 situations. This gives her music a bittersweet atmosphere and the listener is encouraged to take some things easier than it might seem at first glance.
Conclusion: Highly recommended for lovers of the genre.
