Every fan of Death Metal probably does not need to be introduced to MASSACRE: established in 1984, they rank among America’s most well-known acts in extreme metal. They parted and reunited several times in their career and had a lot of changes in their line-up. Most recently, the band was re-formed in 2011 and plans on releasing a new full-length record in 2013. In the meantime, the EP ‘Condemned To The Shadows’ was released in summer 2012 and poses a teaser of what is yet to be expected from the band. To say the least, they did not forget how to play rough and uncompromising Death Metal despite not exactly playing in the same formation as they used to. In general, the two songs vary between fast and a more sagging pace, guitar solos are joined by brutal growls and the modern yet dirty production add to the overall atmosphere of the EP. With curiosity, we can look forward to further releases, since this output is very demanding and compromising. Definitely not to be missed by any fan of good, traditional Death Metal.
