Peer Lebrecht (vocals) from Golden Apes
GOLDEN APES released their EP ‘From the Sky’ on 29th July 2022. It’s an extremely energetic yet delicate and melancholic combination of fine guitars, dark, heart-rendering vocals, and incredible sonic and lyrical imagery built up by this fine, sophisticated material. I took a chance to ask some questions to GOLDEN APES vocalist Peer about the new release, its connotations, and sonic experiments. We also discussed the US tour, new team members, planned live shows, and new things that are on the way. Poetic, beautiful interview - just as expected from a Dark Rock prodigy and an enchanter skilled at magic words may create.

Lars Kappeler (bass guitar) from Sweet Ermengarde
Since I last spoke to Lars Kappeler from SWEET ERMENGARDE last time in September 2021, a lot has changed. Singer Daniel Schweigler has left the band. But that didn’t mean the end at all: Drew Freeman from SOMETIME THE WOLF has already joined as the new singer and SWEET ERMENGARDE have already played the first gigs with their new voice. In the interview Lars reveals what that was like and how surprisingly quickly the new cast came about.

Jules Maxwell
“You just need to keep the channel open. Make what only you can make. Try not to judge whether it’s any good or not. Experiment with different methods if that’s what interests you.”
Jules Maxwell, a songwriter and composer, is currently the keyboardist of DEAD CAN DANCE. His composing work for dance and theatre makes him a truly outstanding, creative artist who is active in many fields leaving his individual trait in each of them. He agreed to answer a few questions about the new album ‘Cycles’, working for the theatre, and cooperating with Lisa Gerrard and DEAD CAND DANCE.

Elettra Seguro (vocals and lyrics), Claudia Nottebella (keyboards) and Valeria Formisano (bass guitar) from Neila Invo
I was very happy to discover new beautiful music from Italy: The Dark Wave band NEILA INVO beguiles with dark tones, a spherical voice and poetic as well as dreamlike lyrics. The band was founded in 2019 by Elettra Seguro and Valeria Formisano, one year later Claudia Nottebella - already known from the band ASH CODE - joined them. Now NEILA INVO have released their debut album ‘Alienation’. In the interview, they reveal what ‘Alienation’ means to them personally. They also talk about their musical background, their own dark sides and more.

Alixandrea Corvyn (vocals), Rob Walker (lead guitar), Edward Grassby (vocals, bass) and Lee Talbot (drums) from Rhombus
Last night I met a couple in their 60s who had recently started listening to - and watching Goth bands… after hearing Rhombus online. This is such a testimony to the wide appeal of the UK based band. RHOMBUS is one the most vibrant and distinctive Goth bands on the scene, with an impressive discography. The band consist of Edward Grassby (vocals and bass), Alixandrea Corvyn (vocals), Lee Talbot (drums and percussion) and Rob Walker (guitars and programming).
