Pain, Zonaria
I must first confess that I am an absolute fan of PAIN / HYPOCRISY. They are some of my favourite bands so I was very pleased to write the review of this concert. Unfortunately, there was only one flaw; the event should take place at the Röhre in Stuttgart. The Röhre is not well known for their good sound conditions, and all the fans could only hope to get the best sound quality this evening.

Apocalyptica, Sturm und Drang, Stam1na
There are not many rock bands on this planet who do not want to be called unique. But only a few deserve this title. APOCALYPTICA from Finland are one of those few. Founded in the early 90s, the band was following its own individual path over the years. First, they presented METALLICA or SLAYER songs on cello during student concerts followed by a gig in a well-known Heavy Metal club which was a total success. Kari Hynninen of Zen Garden Records was in the audience during that night and offered the band a record deal right away. More than one million copies of the first album have been sold. After several albums and co-operations with famous artists such as HIM, now finally the time has come for a new chapter in the band’s history.

Day 1: Doro, Holy Moses, Tourettes, Dylath-leen
The fifth edition of the female fronted metal fest! A great line up this year and they even had a special DVD recording in store for us. The first evening was filled with some of the toughest ladies in metal. Some were very surprised when hearing the voice and then seeing a lady on stage. Who says men rule metal? Not this weekend, that’s for sure!!

Dreadful Shadows, Eminence of Darkness
I really was looking forward to the concert of my favourite band DREADFUL SHADOWS for a very long time. Seven long years - this precisely is the time that has past since their break off in the year 2000. To be honest, I already know this fantastic band since 1995, and I have visited their concerts many times before - but nevertheless I really was not able to predict what to expect in Werk II. At 7.30 p.m. we reached the location Werk II. Strangely there were only a few people waiting at the entrance. So it happened that only a few minutes later we stood in front of the stage already. Then the location filled up and at 9.00 pm the support-band opened the evening.

Paradise Lost, Eyes of Eden and Neurosonic
It has been a year full of activity so far for PARADISE LOST. They have played several festival gigs in Europe and i.e. in Morocco. An absolute highlight was a concert in London in April in the Koko club, when new songs were played to the public before they were even released. This concert was filmed and will be released as a live DVD someday soon. You can get a little impression of the concert by watching the video of ‘Praise Lamented Shade’ which you will find on YouTube or over the PARADISE LOST MySpace site.
