Amphitheater, Gelsenkirchen, Germany
24th June 2009
Dream Theater, Neal Morse
It was only a few days since we saw the Amphitheatre in Gelsenkitchen the last time attending the Blackfield Festival. And on that warm and sunny Wednesday evening, perfect weather for an Open Air gig by the way, we were back to see the Prog gods of DREAM THEATER and with us thousands of other people. We took our places on the huge steps of the theatre with a good view on the stage and in anticipation of what’s to come we’re wound up for a high pitch.

Sweden Rock Festival Day 4: Ripper Owens, Blackfoot, Riot, Journey, Electric Boys, Dream Theater, Europe, Immortal, Heaven & Hell
The last day comes with a final conlusion: in the end Sweden Rock set standards once more. Organization, smooth execution, friendly security, high quality food, the location of the festival and their selection of bands were amazing. As in the years before there’s one final thing to say: “Vi ses nästa år!” – The next Sweden Rock will be held from June 9nd to 12th, 2010.

Sweden Rock Day 2: Pain, Rage, Grand Magus, Volbeat, Candlemass, The Tubes, Flogging Molly, ZZ-Top, Hammerfall, Over The Rainbow, Twisted Sister
Thursday on the Sweden Rock festival has a more catchy line-up. Many interesting bands on a row, and most of all a lot to discover. After the long trip and the highlights of day one, there is more energy to start the day with one of the dynamic bands.

Sweden Rock Day 3: Jon Oliva’s Pain, Deströyer 666, Marillion, Voivod, Lita Ford, Demon, Kamelot, Foreigner, Cucified Barbara, Motörhead, In Flames
For me, Friday started with Jon Oliva’s Pain at Festival Stage and Deströyer 666 at Zeppelin Stage, both playing concurrently. Weather was really gonna suck that day – but that’s festival life, nothing you can do about it - but this day’s band billing was totally gonna make up for it.

Seabound, Absurd Minds, Soman
Before the masses would gather at the Amphitheater in Gelsenkirchne for the second issue of the Blackfield Festival, there was a Warm-Up event to take with not only partying on multiple floors but also three live acts one of which I was so much looking forward to see.
