Album Review

It's a year of transformation for IVA. She's been recording an original studio album while preparing for a major operatic debut. For ‘Ivolution’, a chance meeting with platinum songwriting and production team Kbros (the team is Andreas Karlegard and Martin Karlegard and they are based in Stockholm, Sweden) gave birth to a twelve song journey for all three artists. IVA left behind everything she knew to live and breathe the journey that she had to take to get to the source where the music lays. Later she found herself working with composer Sven-David Sandström to sing the role of a young woman betrayed by her family and stripped of her future. As Tamar in ‘Batseba’, she explored the boundaries of opera and pop to bring one voice onto the stage.

IVA has a very beautiful voice; you hear her using it in different ways all through ‘Ivolution’, from softer almost fragile to higher more opera sounding. ‘Dreams’ is the first single from the record, it has been a success on the Swedish radio and I believe it has done a good job with introducing the album. ‘One candle’ has a cool beat and lyrics that I really like “If you’re running for the bus then I’ll catch you every time. Your fragile heart is safe inside the lighting strike”. ‘Somewhere’ begins with a beautiful violin playing and then this song changes to something more, it is very beautiful. The last song on the record is ‘Silent prayer’; it has strong lyrics that I really like and well who can’t relate to this breaking free thing, this is a really good song.
