iamx faultlines2IAMX breathes new spiritual life into his hyper-emotional electronic project with the new album ‘Fault Lines²’. It is the successor to the aggressive, cultish machinations heard on the 2023 released album ‘Fault Lines¹’. This sequel is half mutant, half prom queen sister with pulsating bass monsters like ‘Neurosymphony’ and ‘Infinite Fear Jets’ transitioning ethereally into tracks like ‘The Ocean’, where the magnificent vocal talents of Hafdis Huld in the Icelandic intro and outro can be heard. This is followed by tracks like the intricate harmonies of ‘Deathless Wilds’, with its grim, crunching 6/8 beats grabbing attention, while longtime collaborator Janine Gezang urges the listener in Punk Rock style to accept whatever may come.

This album showcases IAMX at the peak of beauty and despair, underscored by its “no fucks left to give” whimsicality. The psychological depths found in the music reflect a wisdom and acceptance hinted at in previous albums but fully realized here. Trials become superpowers, neuroses become commitments, and radical self-love becomes the context and relief of self-realization. The vocals reflect the depth of this wisdom, with X sounding both dramatic and relaxed, exuding a confident lightness that only comes from experience. Each vocal note contains the perfect amount of sharpness, squeak, or breath; demonstrating a confidence born from years on stage and in the studio, conveying a sense of intense intimacy to the listener.

The discord and disharmony of the universe are chaotically displayed on this album. Beauty rides on dirt, triplets on fours, and fear on eroticism. The fractures in the sonic worlds become fault lines.
