Day three of the legendary festival arrived once again far too early. The weather promised a rain-free day and a look into the running order of Sunday sparked enough joy to dive in head-first into the last festival day.

Rock im Park Day 2 with Bad Nerves, Black Veil Brides, Hollywood Undead, Breaking Benjamin, The Offspring, Alter Bridge
With a fabulous Day one in the books, it was time for the second day of unadulterated fun on the storied grounds of the Zeppelinfeld. The weather forecast had improved massively, showing only tiny spells of showers, so nothing stood in the way of getting an earful of excellent music.

Rock im Park Day 1 with Ecca Vandal, The Pretty Reckless, Bilmuri, Three Days Grace, Bury Tomorrow, Landmvrks, Electric Callboy, Thornhill
Finally, with the advent of June, the highly coveted pilgrimage to the Zeppelinfeld could start, converting the storied city of Nuremberg with Rock Im Park into the less muddy, fairly weathered twin of storied festival behemoth Rock Am Ring. And the hype knows no bounds. After the anniversary editions last year broke all records in terms of the number of bands playing and attendance, this year did not feel like a downshift.

The Barbican Centre is built upon a 35 acre site that was bombed to smithereens by the Germans in WW2. The current Brutalist structure replaced all the building that were part of a bustling cloth and rag trade, what’s there now is an art and concert venue, multi layered housing and futurist verandas and terraces that over time have been imbue with a charm all of its own. Tonight James - Jim - Mij - MIDGE URE, prolific songwriter and lead singer of 80s band ULTRAVOX plays the London leg of his UK tour playing a mixture of newer material along with old hits for the old New Romantics in the audience.
